The Cynnabar Collegium Musicum
(f.k.a. The Bedlam Collegium Musicum ad Nauseum)
Award of the Grove Award of the Purple Fretty Singing Mistress
Jadwiga Krzyzanowska
singing.AT.cynnabar.DOT.org

For over 10 years, the Barony of Cynnabar has enjoyed the presence of a singing group. We have singers with a wide range of experience, from near-beginners to people with advanced musical training. We are always hoping to find new members who share our love of singing: no formal training required!

The group tries to include many of the different kinds of music that were created in the Middle Ages and Renaissance. The music we have learned ranges from 13th century motets to early 17th century madrigals. We have music ranging from unison to 5 parts with pieces in a variety of languages, including Latin, Italian, French, Spanish, Catalan, and a number of versions of English.

Collegium Musicum enjoys sharing its love of music with the rest of the SCA in performances. The group has sung at SCA events, and at public demonstrations held by SCA groups. We have done a number of interesting projects, such as singing music for dancing, concerts for local coffee-houses, senior centers and holiday caroling downtown Ann Arbor. We have even provided music for the weddings of some of our SCA friends.

Together with the Bedlam Players, the Collegium Musicum has earned an Award of the Grove for its endeavors in the arts, and an Award of the Purple Fretty for its service in performing at public demonstrations, both on the Kingdom Level. As an independent entity, the Collegium has received the Award of the Tower's Light from the Barony of Cynnabar. We have taken First Place at several Kingdom Arts & Sciences competitions and won the division championship with a selection of music from the original "Carmina Burana."

The Collegium Musicum meets on Thursdays from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at 1610 Pontiac Trail, with Singing from 7-8, Singing with Instrumentals from 8-9 and Instrumental only from 9 to 10.
